Ingredients

  • 500g lean Quality Mark beef or lamb mince
  • 1 tablespoon canola or sunflower
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato purée
  • 400g can tomatoes in juice
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs or 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (optional)
  • Spaghetti or pasta

Method

Heat the oil in a frying pan, and cook the onion gently for 5-6 minutes, until tender. Add the mince, breaking up with the back of a spoon to form small pieces until cooked thoroughly and no longer pink. Stir in tomato purée, canned tomatoes and herbs. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 30 minutes until reduced and thick, but still moist.

Serve the mince mixture over spaghetti or stir through your favourite pasta. Serve with salad or seasonal vegetables.
