Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
Basic Mince Mixture
- 1 Tbsp oil
- 1 onion, peeled and chopped
- 500g lean beef or lamb mince
- 1 egg
- 1 cup soft breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp mixed herbs or 1 Tbsp chopped fresh herbs (optional)
Method
Mix basic mince mixture ingredients together in a small bowl. Combine well and roll into approximately 20 balls, toss lightly in plain flour.
Heat the oil in a frying pan on a medium heat and cook patties for approximately 15 minutes or until no longer pink inside.
Cut into pieces and serve with chopped vegetables and pasta. These small pieces might also be enjoyed as finger foods.
Tip
These tasty meatballs are ideal 'dipping' foods, so serve with tomato sauce or yoghurt on the side. Another tasty and nutritious dip is mashed avocado mixed with sour cream or plain yoghurt.
KIDS LOVE MINCE
For children aged 1-13 years, a 100g serving of lean beef or lamb mince provides at least 20% of the average recommended daily intake of iron.
